The State of Alabama requires the application of a fixed-rate Simplified Sellers Use Tax of 8% on certain products sold by Registry Coins and shipped to an Alabama address. This tax applies to the following items: (1) copper products; (2) numismatic coins; (3) accessory items; and (4) processed items. All other products sold by Registry Coins are exempt from these taxes.


The definitions below outline the products subject to tax collection in Alabama:


Numismatic Coins: Coins that possess value beyond the intrinsic worth of the precious metal due to factors such as rarity, condition, age, or other special attributes.


Accessory Items: Products like holders, tubes, coin flips, and apparel.


Processed Items: Precious metals that have been refined and transformed by third parties into collectible items valued for attributes beyond their metal content, such as colorized coins or statues.


In accordance with Alabama regulations (Rule 810-6-2-.90.02 Simplified Sellers Use Tax Remittance Program), Registry Coins is required to notify its Alabama customers of the following:


Registry Coins has collected the Simplified Sellers Use Tax on eligible transactions delivered to Alabama, and this tax will be remitted to the Alabama Department of Revenue on the customer’s behalf.

The applicable use taxes for purchases on the Registry Coins website in Alabama are calculated at checkout, based on (1) the taxability of items sold by Registry Coins in Alabama as described above, and (2) the 8% Alabama Simplified Sellers Use Tax rate.


Registry Coins started collecting use taxes in Alabama on October 1, 2018. Our program account license number in Alabama is R012139128.


If you are an Alabama-based reseller and wish to submit a Reseller Certificate to Registry Coins, please contact us at Contact@RegistryCoins.com. Once we receive your completed Reseller Certificate, we will add it to our system. As long as your Reseller Certificate remains valid, you will be exempt from sales tax on future orders.
